For years people have seen Toronto as a city that did not know how to have fun. Since WWII, people from many lands have poured into Toronto and making it their home. Bringing with them their songs, dances, colourful costumes, and good cooking, new ideas on how to live and have fun. Now Toronto is Canada’s most culturally diverse province, a “mosaic” of neighbourhoods. Ontario's capital provides entertainment for the whole family from galleries and museums to major league sports to exciting nightlife. The CN Tower, the world's largest freestanding tower, set in the heart of the entertainment district where theatres, sports arenas and trendy restaurants are located. Take a stroll along the waterfront, visit the historic Fort York or take a trip across Lake Ontario to see Toronto Island. Theme parks like Canada's Wonderland and Ontario Place are only some great summer outings for the whole family. Anyone from anywhere in the world can feel at home in Toronto. Besides offering a wonderful variety of restaurants, the large immigrant population has given the city two large, popular cultural events every year: Caravan and Carnival. Caravan is a festival celebration of the many nationalities that make up the city and takes place in June. Carnival is a celebration of Caribbean culture, which takes place at the beginning of every August.
